For Goodness Sake is a consortium of:
A Kid's Place
A Woman's Place
C.A.R.E.
Eldergarden
For Goodness Sake is composed of four agencies that have come together to enhance each agency's mission in the community. We have agreed to non-duplication of services, to make appropriate referrals, to write some grants together, to share human and physical resources when feasible, and to collaborate to produce one or more large fundraisers each year.
Celebrations of Generations.
Our first Celebrations kick off event was held on Friday, March 16th, 2007.
We gathered together at the Greeley Freight Station, which is the site of
Greeley's premier miniature train museum, then under construction. We sold many celebrations (parties/events) that
were held during the year.

On March 21, 2008, we brought the Harlem Ambassadors Team for an
exciting evening of basketball. They pulled out all the stops with both
traveling teams present. Over 30 local citizens, including the Mayor of
Greeley and two State Senators played against the Ambassadors. Even with
20-points added to the For Goodness Sake team, the Ambassadors still won (but
barely). A great time was had by all.

For each of the last
four years, we have
sponsored a Family Fun Night in August in Luther Park (21st Ave. and 10th Street). The
whole event is free and open to the public. We give away
hotdogs, popcorn, popsicles, and pop (maybe we should call it the "pop" event).
There are games to play, free school supplies, and a movie is shown on the big screen at dark,
or else we have a giant bounce house. This is our gift to the
community.

For the Christmas Season 2008
and 2009, For Goodness Sake
sponsored Holiday House. Hundreds of gifts were given so that families
could choose gifts to give each other. Individuals with a voucher were
able to shop for free gifts and wrap them before they took them home.

The Theme was Manhattan Lights
On Friday, November 14, 2008, our second Celebrations of Generations kick-off event was held at the U.N.C. Ballroom. Kreme of the Krop was our exciting entertainment. Different celebrations were purchased for throughout the year, including Dancing with the Cars, held at Cos in the Spring and Jimmy Buffet style Cheeseburgers in Paradise held in August.
For
Goodness Sake's reputation (for doing good in the
community and banding together to prevent duplication of services and granting
requests to various local businesses) has
spread. A year ago we were the recipients of a $10,000 matching grant from
the El Pomar Foundation. In late 2009, we were recipients of a $4,000 gift
from the Gay and Lesbian Fund, with another promised $4,000 when we raise a
"matching" $4,000.
