For Goodness Sake is composed of four agencies that came together in 2006 to enhance each agency's mission in the community.  We have agreed to non-duplication of services, to make appropriate referrals, to write some grants together, to share human and physical resources when feasible, and to collaborate to produce one or more large fundraisers each year.

We know that our local businesses are weary of everyone knocking on their doors, so we have banded together in hopes of making it easier for them and easier for our four nonprofits to raise funding.

Celebrations of Generations.  Our first Celebrations kick off event was held on Friday, March 16th, 2007.  We gathered together at the Greeley Freight Station, which is the site of Greeley's premier miniature train museum, then under construction.  We sold many celebrations (parties/events) that were held during the year.

On March 21, 2008, we brought the Harlem Ambassadors Team for an exciting evening of basketball. They pulled out all the stops with both traveling teams present.  Over 30 local citizens, including the Mayor of Greeley and two State Senators played against the Ambassadors.  Even with 20-points added to the For Goodness Sake team, the Ambassadors still won (but barely).   A great time was had by all.

For each of the last five years, we have sponsored a Family Fun Night in August in Luther Park (21st Ave. and 10th Street).  The whole event is free and open to the public.  We give away hotdogs, popcorn, popsicles, pizza, and pop.  There are games to play, free school supplies, and a movie is shown on the big screen at dark, or else we have a giant bounce house.  This is our gift to the community.

For the Christmas Season 2008, 2009, and 2010, For Goodness Sake sponsored Holiday House.  Hundreds of gifts were given so that families could choose gifts to give each other.  Individuals with a voucher were able to shop for free gifts and wrap them before they took them home.

For Goodness Sake's reputation for doing good in the community has spread. In 2008 For Goodness Sake was the recipient of a $10,000 matching grant from the El Pomar Foundation.  In late 2009, we were recipients of a $8,000 gift from the Gay and Lesbian Fund.  We used these funds to support the four organizations in their worthwhile works, and used a portion for the two outreaches--Family Fun Night and Holiday House.

In 2010 Wells Fargo Community Assistance Fund gave assistance to our Holiday House gift give-away.

The funds for For Goodness Sake are housed under the auspices of the Community Foundation of Greeley and Weld County.
